Black Forest Dreams Poetry Reading Video (recorded at Madame Zuzu’s in Highland Park, Illinois, on November 13, 2021)

Joseph Kuhn Carey loves to travel with wife and sons and the sights and sounds of their family adventures in Europe and Africa are captured in his poems. Joe’s full-length poetry books, “Postcards From Poland” and “Black Forest Dreams” have won several awards and his individual poems about fiddlers, birds, robotic Mars rovers, electricity, dance parties at airports, night, harmonicas, deer bridges, school buses, traffic crossing-light figures, shoes, golf and skiing have also been selected in poetry contests. Joe’s first poems were published on the Highland Park Poetry website and he’s enjoyed seeing his poems on buses, as well as in artworks, yard signs and store windows through always-inventive events sponsored by HPP over the years. Joe is currently working on a book of poems about South Africa and he still fondly recalls being just a few feet away from giraffes, elephants, zebras and lions in the wild in Kruger National Park
